The St. Lucie Co. Fire District is an independent special district providing fire suppression, rescue and emergency medical services. Last year the Fire District responded to 51,935 calls for service, covering 572 square miles with a population of 298,000, and employs 388 firefighters and 58 civilian employees.
POSITION: Human Resources Director
Leads, directs and manages the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the Human Resource Department. Performs professional, technical and analytical work related to human resources activities including recruitment, selection, classification, compensation, promotional processes, performance management, employee recognition, employment law and regulatory compliance, policy development and documentation, organizational development and training, benefits administration, conflict management, and employee relations.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field from an accredited college or university. A Master’s degree is highly desirable. Five (5) to seven (7) years of progressively responsible human resource experience as a director or manager, with an emphasis in organizational development, performance management, legal compliance and employee relations. Public sector experience preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. Certification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional is required. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Salary Range - $71,435 - $95,729. The Fire District offers an excellent, comprehensive benefits package, including Retirement, Medical, Dental, Vision, and Life Insurance.
