The City of Dunedin, Florida is located on central Florida's west coast, in the heart of Pinellas County's Suncoast. The City of Dunedin has a nonpartisan commission/manager form of government. The City Commission is comprised of a Mayor and four Commissioners, who are elected under a staggered system with overlapping terms. The City Commission appoints four (4) Charter officials: City Clerk, City Manager, City Attorney and City Auditor. The City has 363 FTEs and a total FY 2018 budget of $166.2 million, 16% of which is the General Fund. Under administrative direction, the City Clerk serves as the official custodian of all official City records within the boundaries established by Florida State statutes, the City Charter, and the City’s Code of Ordinances. Candidates must have knowledge in the areas of public administration, recordkeeping, municipal planning, zoning, judicial proceedings, etc. and must be knowledgeable in the laws, ordinances, standards and regulations pertaining to the specific duties and responsibilities of a City Clerk position, including but not limited to the Florida Sunshine Law, Public Records Act, and current election laws. Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, records management, political science or a related field with five (5) years increasingly responsible verifiable work experience working in a City/Town Clerk’s department. An equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered. A Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation is required.
